Happy National Sandwich Day! I decided to write up my favorite sandwich spots in Gainesville, FL! Hopefully this will help you choose where to celebrate today:

Hogan’s

Hogan’s is definitely a hidden gem that take pride in making their sandwiches. Its located at 2327 NW 13th St. Gainesville, Fl. 32609. I’ve been here several times and am never disappointed. The service is great, they have a large menu, and pricing isn’t too bad. You can either order to eat in or take it to go. My personal favorite here is their Tuna Salad Sub that I get with mozzarella cheese.

Dave’s NY Deli

Dave’s NY Deli is a Gainesville chain with only two locations: 12921 SW 1st Rd, Newberry, FL
5750 SW 75th Ct, Ste 30, Gainesville, FL. The deli is fantastic and home to some delicious sandwiches. The menu has an array of sandwiches from breakfast sandwiches to deli selects. The sandwiches are served fresh and you can definitely feel that New York vibe in there. A must get here is the New York, New York, which is Hot NY Pastrami & Corned Beef Piled High on Rye Bread or the Pastrami Special, which is Hot NY Pastrami Topped with Swiss, Cole Slaw & Deli Mustard on Rye Bread

Big Mills Cheesesteaks

Home of the BEST cheesesteaks in Gainesville! Big Mills is located at 2111 NW 13th St, Gainesville, FL 32609. The theming of the restaurant is fantastic. It’s all about baseball in there. Each chair back has a baseball team on it. I’ve tried cheesesteaks in several places around Gainesville and this one is definitely the best. Their crinkle cut fries and onion rings are also tasty. Pricing here isn’t too bad. After trying one of these, you’ll want some seconds.

La Cocina De Abuela (Abuela’s Kitchen)

This is the perfect place to get a Midnight or Cuban sandwich. It’s located at: 125 NW 23rd Ave
Ste 9 Gainesville, FL 32609. This restaurant opened earlier this year and deserves more love. All of their food is delicious. I’ve eaten here several times and have always been blown away. Their menu changes daily, but they usually always have their sandwiches. The mdinight sandwich I had here was one of the best I’ve ever had (including the ones I’ve tried in Miami). If you’re looking for a Hispanic twist to National Sandwich Day, this is the place to go.

Jersey Mike’s

Yes, they’re a chain, but they’re a delicious chain! There are several locations in Gainesville, FL: 2803 SW 42nd St. Gainesville, FL
3720 NW 13th St. Gainesville, FL
2015 NW 43rd St. Gainesville, FL
New Jersey is famous for being home to some of the best delis. Jersey Mike’s was started in New Jersey and spread around North America. Some pretty good subs are the Number 4, which has provolone, prosciuttini, and cappacuolo and The Original Italian, which has provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni.

Sweet Berries

Many people know Sweet Berries for it’s delicious custard and sundaes, but Sweet Berries also has outstanding sandwiches. It’s located at: 505 NW 13th St Gainesville, FL 32601. They have a number of sandwiches to choose from and even a create-your-own. My personal favorite sandwich is their Cape Cod Tuna Sandwich. It has White Albacore tuna with apples, celery, and walnuts served on wheat bread. Their Italian Sub is also pretty good.
